Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

• Citizen of India, or
• Subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
• Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently, or
• A person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries intending to settle permanently in India.

Age Limit (as on July 1, 2026)

• IMA: Unmarried male candidates born between July 2, 2002, and July 1, 2007.
• INA: Unmarried male candidates born between July 2, 2002, and July 1, 2007.
• AFA: 20 to 24 years (born between July 2, 2002, and July 1, 2006). Upper age limit relaxed to 26 years for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India).
• OTA (Men): Unmarried male candidates born between July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2007.
• OTA (Women): Unmarried women, issueless widows, and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried, born between July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2007.

Educational Qualifications

• IMA & OTA: Degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
• INA: Degree in Engineering from a recognized university/institution.
• AFA: Degree from a recognized university (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Note: Candidates appearing in the final year/semester of degree courses can apply, provided they submit proof of passing the degree examination at the time of the SSB interview.

• SC/ST/Female Candidates: Exempted

Application Process

1. Visit: upsconline.nic.in
2. Navigate: Click on “ONLINE APPLICATION FOR VARIOUS EXAMINATIONS OF UPSC”.
3. Select: Choose “Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 2025”.
4. Part I Registration:
   • Fill in basic details.
   • Choose preferred examination centers.
   • Submit and note the Registration ID.
5. Part II Registration:
   • Upload scanned photograph and signature.
   • Pay the application fee.
   • Agree to the declaration and submit the form.
6. Print: Take a printout of the application form for future reference.

Selection Process

1. Written Examination:
   • For IMA, INA, AFA:
     • English: 100 marks
     • General Knowledge: 100 marks
     • Elementary Mathematics: 100 marks
   • For OTA:
     • English: 100 marks
     • General Knowledge: 100 marks
   • Each paper is of 2 hours duration.
   • Negative marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each incorrect answer.
2. SSB Interview:
   • Personality and Intelligence Test.
   • Divided into two stages: Stage I (Screening Test) and Stage II (Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and Conference).
3. Medical Examination:
   • Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers.
